I’m interested in how the JTCC regs for super touring evolved particularly in the 1996/97 period. Had the cars drifted that much from say BTCC spec? Asking as there was no rumours or seeming interest from Japan in Bathurst in 1997, which you’d think might have been one of the first places organisers...

I think its success is underrated given the strength of the entry lists from 1994-1998. Generally as international as the BTCC and as justabout as many manufacturers and very large grids.

Was it just a rumour or was it confirmed that TOCA were willing to allow 4WD Quattros back into the series in 1999 (or was it 2000) to entice privateers from Europe to bring their cars to the BTCC?

What if 4WD wasn’t banned at the end of 1997? Would it have kept Audi in the series beyond 1998, and/or would it have seen other manufacturers pulling out of the series earlier than they did?
